Title: Good Drivers are Wealthy Racists
Post by: Ben on December 25, 2019, 07:04:27 PM: So now it's apparently unfair to be grouped by actuaries based on how good of a driver your sample set is.

Apparently it would be okay to offer discounts to (the article example) the teachers union, which would cover good and bad drivers in the union. However, if you wanted to give a discount to the occupation "astrophysicist" because statistics showed them to be very safe drivers, you would be discriminating.

New Jersey as well. For several companies its weighted more heavily than your driving record. I think it's geico where it's about 75% of what determines your rate.

I suspect it's much more likely that the discounts are eliminated, and everyone just pays the higher rates. I wonder who will be "costing those poor people hundreds a year" then?
