Title: Alternatives to YouTube
Post by: Perd Hapley on March 08, 2021, 11:03:54 PM
I don't think there's any site that comes close to YouTube's vast amount of content, but here are a few other sources:

https://www.liveleak.com/

https://www.bitchute.com/

https://rumble.com/

https://tv.gab.com/

https://www.britishpathe.com/

Any others?

Ian of Forgotten Weapons has an account also on a site called FloatPlane, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bt6hh47fYgo It seems like it is essentially a pay to get access to a channels content, so it is essentially like combining Patreon with YouTube.
Also Full30, which I haven't been on for quite some time.

I've been trying to use some of the alternatives mentioned in the OP. I'd be happy with some of them from the aspect of political and other news, as well as some of the entertainment videos. However, my main use of Youtube has been for reference videos, mostly "how-to". They have been invaluable to me, even when I have had written instructions for some things. Watching a step by step though, has often made the difference, especially when people point out stuff the written instructions don't tell you. Also product reviews.

I simply can't find those kinds of videos on rumble.

The Air Force has blocked YouTube on .gov compooters for almost a year now, not sure why. I'm going to try these suggestions tomorrow as I miss having interludes during my "lunch break."

I'm chuckling because Full30 is completely blocked at my county government office, but I can watch YouTube all day.

Really? Very interesting. YouTube has been blocked on Navy ships too.

I mean, it's not mission essential, and I never fully understood why it was allowed in the first place.

I tried all the above sites, and while some would load, no videos would play. Facebook videos work but beyond cute kittens there's nothing there I want to watch.
