Title: Free Shakespeare
Post by: Perd Hapley on May 22, 2009, 07:15:21 PM
Every summer in Forest Park.  The Merry Wives of Windsor tonight.  The temp is 84, so I hope it is not too unbearable, and we can find a spot that combines shade and a decent view of the stage.

If you've priced theater tickets lately...

I used to go to free Shakespeare in the park in Camden, ME.  Sure was nice.

And Bill Stickers is innocent!  He was with me when it happened, and I'll swear to it.

Shakespeare needs to be freed. He has committed no crimes.

Truth is that I love the mans work. I own a very thick tome of his works.

Who wishes to wax poetical about how great a man "fistful" was and how he bore his scapegoatedness with ultimate jest?

The weather was quite nice, even in direct sunlight.  Not a bad show, either.

Is there any other sort of tome?

Well, in these days of recession we have have had to downsize and all that. Plus lots of people are reading. So we have to make tomes smaller in order to compete in the current market. =D

Where is that raspberry tongue smilie?

To watch or not to watch, that is the question.

A couple of the staff were on stage talking about next year's production.  They said it would be Hamlet in Space.  They often set the production in different time periods/locations, so I can't tell if they were serious or not.  They did a little Darth Vader/Ghost of Hamlet's Father thing; "Hamlet, I am your father" and so on.

I'm actually hoping they do it.
