I assume we've all heard of strippers/dancers who are saving their tips to pay for higher education.  Well, I would say that, too, just to preserve some scrap of dignity.  Do any of us know anyone who's actually doing that?  Or is that just an urban myth?

I once knew a guy I worked with who's wife danced and waited in a higher end strip club.  He paid the bills, she was putting them both through college.  They later split, but because he had habits that usually aren't conducive to maintaing a marriage....

It's been some years back, but I did know a gal who danced at a topless club in Austin to pay her way through college.  In her words, "$40 an hour beats minimum wage at Jack-In-The-Box."  She worked three nights a week, four hours a night.

And talk about a person whose body was in great physical condition!  But I guess that's pretty much true for all dancers...

As to the "She's doing it for school money," most strippers I knew were not bright enough for that sort of planning or schooling.  More likely, "She's doing it to finance breast implants."  Which will lead to more money on the stage.

Sure, I know and have represented a few.  Have only dated a couple.  The smart ones have a plan and treat it as a business.  The dumb ones give money to their wastes of carbon boyfriends for rent and drugs.

I do know one who actually went to law school.  One of my friends in law school in Chicago danced in undergrad.  I saw her this summer when I was in Dallas; she still has the look.

I had a college classmate who stripped to make ends meet. She asked me to not come to her club and I complied. I'm polite like that. She wanted me to play in her all girl (except for me if I joined) band and after one rehearsal I backed out. They were terrible.

My trainer at the mortgage company had a dancer come in to buy a house.  This lady was sharp, she actually (and quite legally apparently) claimed depreciation on her body on her taxes.  She had the tables to show the change in value over time based on income and such.

Somebody like that says it's for law school, I'd believe them.

I once knew a guy who put himself through college by working as an illegal drug runner during the summers.  He also passed most of his exams by cheating instead of studying hard.  He used to say "if they don't want me to do these things, they should make it harder for me to get away with it."

I wouldn't be surprised if there are a number of strippers who do it for tuition money.  I also wouldn't be surprised if most of the strippers who say they're really doing it for for college money, aren't.

Turns out she got her certificate and actually started making decent money as a legit massage therapist, not the rub and tug kind. No more dancing for her.

When I was working on my undergrad, one of the girls, a Croatian, was dancing for money.  She was a good student and graduated on time.  Quite hawt too.

This was a private, Baptist, university too.

My school was routinely bombarded with advertisements from  local fertility clinics looking for sperm and especially egg donors because of the renown of the school. For some reason, "tall white" eggs and "asian" eggs were in particular demand. Most of my classmates came from upper-middle class families, so I doubt they went for it much. Still, I always wonder which classmates actually did it and how many respective children are out there by now.

Some of 'em do it because they're lazy, and the only talent they got from high school was looking halfway decent while wiggling... Some of 'em do it because their boyfriends or husbands basically pimp 'em out. Some of 'em do it as a business. And very few of 'em do it because they like it.

I can't think of any other job that pays as well, for a student type person. Perhaps they are smarter than the rest?

I know a lady who put herself through Vanderbilt University stripping at a Nashville club.  No, I never went to see her - she was a friend and I didn't want to make things awkward.

She graduated, took a position in her field, got her first check after two weeks and said "!@#$%^!!!  I could make this on a good NIGHT!"  She quit and went back to stripping until her house was paid for.  Then she went back to work in her chosen field of study.

Yup. Having frequented some of those places in days gone by, a good portion, if not most of those girls, were supporting habits of various sorts.  One young airman in my organization got way too involved with one of them, and was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time when a cocaine bust went down.  (Inner Room, Cocoa Beach, FL - where ALL the girls tell you they're paying for their college education!)

I don't know if she's hiding it or not. I doubt it.  I don't know any of the particulars of her current job situation. As I said, I don't know if her husband knows about her previous employment or not. That's none of my business.
