Colorado Gun Control, After the Fact
« on: June 19, 2014, 11:54:56 AM »
The Governor "apologizes" to CO Sheriffs, and explains why he did what he did. What I got out of the article is that it was the fault of his staff and the fault of Democrats that (he claims) told him they wouldn't vote for the restrictions but did. The article doesn't seem to explain why, if he was so against the legislation, he promoted it in the first place.

"I was for it in a supposedly consequence-free-environment. Now that there are consequences and I am embarrassed, I offer this insincere apology for having been trapped in a political environment too complex for my used car salesman's brain to anticipate. This is supposed to be enough now. What else do you want from me? F@#&!"

Wasn't there also something about him lying about whether he talked to Bloomberg about it.  Something like he did before he urged it, but then he didn't?
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Yep...

“Well, lets, let’s stick to the facts,” Hickenlooper responded in a video clip of the exchange. “I never talked to Mayor Bloomberg. I…Again, that’s been out in the press and all this stuff.  Just for the record.  You know, I met Mayor Bloomberg when I was a Mayor, and I know him, uh, I think he’s a pretty good Mayor.”

In summation, he's not really sorry he signed the law into effect.

Yep, just a weak attempt at trying to straddle the middle ground.

I would think it's doing him no good. The pro-RKBA base still wants his head on a pike no matter what, and the anti-gun base is just going to see it as waffling, and it'll create an enthusiasm gap.
I promise not to duck.

I doubt either of them reads APS.

I halfway favored him when he first ran for Mayor (though I could not vote in Denver elections) since he was a "businessman" and more likely to have his head grounded in reality... as opposed to the previous Mayors, like Webb.

But it soon became apparent, as AJ Dual noted, that his mode of operation was "weak attempt(s) at trying to straddle the middle ground," or to postpone decisions endlessly.  His wishy-washiness as governor became all too obvious when he was wringing his hands over the death penalty decision.

I see him as being in conflict between his own slightly conservative outlook and his desire to toe the party line for the purposes of re-election.  I'm sure he's looking at a Senatorial bid sometime in the future, and relying on the party machine to get him elected.

If he had been his "own man" instead of constantly sucking on the party's big tits, he might have fared better in the public's eye.

He's a Party "Momma's Boy."

He should go back to brewing beer or being a geologist again.

I referred one here. Don't think he registered, though. ;)

When is he up for reelection? I need to plan the next day off as I anticipate pulling a muscle from all the laughing I'm going to do as he gets his ass handed to him.

Your analogy is intriguing, please elaborate.

I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought
