What caliber for White Ash?
« on: December 01, 2019, 06:33:33 PM »
Broke out my Alaskan sawmill today and sliced up a mid sized White Ash tree I had take down a couple of weeks ago.
About midway through it I found a jacketed bullet.  It was at least 5" from the bark and had been there long enough I couldn't tell which way it had come in from.
Wasn't enough left to ID once I got it dug out but good probability it was mine or one of my guests. One of the reasons I took the tree down was to clear space on my range. I'm kind of surprised I didn't find more.

Not super premium lumber but not too bad.
Measuring at the narrow end I got 2 1X8 8.5', a 1.5X7 8.5' long and 1 2X6 8.5'.
The 2X stuff I plan on using for tool handle stock.

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Caliber?  Not sure.

For parts: White Oak Armament.

My parents have a 30 cal copper jacket bullet in their woodwork. Looks like it nicked the blade in the tooling because there is a ridge starting at the bullet.
A plan is just a list of things that doesn't happen.
Is defenestration possible through the overton window?

I had the chance to observe some treed bullets where the range was cleared ballistically. The rifle bullets that stayed together were likely commie steel core and they yawed in the wood to end up pointing back towards the firing point.

I'm so contrarian that I didn't respond to the thread.
