Having given this some serious deep thought now, I have to say that a lot of times the +1 is just a quick shortcut for some to voice their approval with one thing or another. Almost like a "Hear Hear!!' or a "Bravo!!" or a "Yay for our side!!" Why should that annoy anybody? Sorry, I must respectfully declare a -1 on your annoyance with +1. And a Tongue

On the SA forums, we ban anyone who makes a single retarded post. This goes a LONG way toward having intelligent, respectful forums. +1? You're out 10 bucks. 'what'? You're out 10 bucks. O rly? You're out ten bucks AND aren't coming back. Etc.

On a serious note, a great majority of the people on the internet lack 'netiqette' and/or don't even know what 'netiquette' is.

And since they have no concept of it, they tend wander around on the internet aimlessly and copy the actions of others and mimic them in an attempt to fit in with what is considered to be standard behavior.

And because of this, they'll post stupid things like "+1" and run up bandwidth and expenses for those who run message boards.

HA HA HA. No seriously, I agree w/ you. I only plus one if I actually have something substantive to say (like now). And even then I usually write it out. I am a fan of numeric stuff though...

I don't know... when someone posts a "+1" after my post (with or without quoting me), it gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling all over.

I find it funny for someone to complain about "scrolling through a whole bunch of stuff I already read." Man oh man! We sure have it rough in this day and age.
