Argh-Taxes!

Help, I'm drowning in publications!  Two states + moving expenses probably means I should have sprung for TurboTax!

Just venting.

I've gotta do taxes for THREE states, NV, CA, and MT.  Yeah I've got turbo tax, I wrapped up my federal taxes a few weeks ago, have a nice little refund coming my way.

A few years ago when I was a traveling Nurse, I did several states, plus lots of different expenses. It was worth every penny to get a tax professional to do my taxes for me. He has been doing them ever since.

Try TaxAct.com

It's an on-line tax package.

I've used it for the last couple of years. So has mtnbkr. We're both happy with it.

Get
an
accountant
Seriously, esp with taxes that goofy (3 states, ugh).  One mistake will cost you way more than a couple hundred to an accountant.  And having a continuing relationship with an accountant is worth more than they charge.
Accountants do taxes, all year, they understand taxes, they don't understand your job, why do you think you understand theirs?
Mine was pretty complex last year, 2 states, a rental, a small business, a bunch of investments
it was under $300.
Of course, it all depends on how you keep your records, poor record keeping will cost you.

When I was a kid and my taxes were simple, I filled in the 1040 EZ in ten minutes and was done with it.

Now I have a family, a business and two pieces of real estate, and couldn't make sense of my taxes if I tried.  It costs me about $300 each year for my CPA to do my business and personal taxes.  It is well worth it.  He knows about so many write offs, deductions, etc. that I would never figure out.  They easily add up to far more than the $300 I pay him.

I use a professional to do my taxes, same guy since the late 70s. I almost always end up with a refund, even though I have to put in a sheltered fund to make it work. I would just as soon pay a flat tax, and be done with it!

NV taxes?  I thought NV didn't have state income tax (at least they didn't when I lived there).

It's true, NV doesn't have an income tax.  I may have some kind of return coming my way for something or other so I'm gonna see if I can file there.

Why are you still paying taxes? Government already has more than enough money.
