Can anyone ID this USB....thingy?
« on: May 13, 2019, 08:09:10 PM »
I needed some 5V power supplies to run a couple Arduino's, so I ordered some from Amazon for cheap, Chinese, of course.

These exact ones:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0777HWN87/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Amazon Prime dutifully delivered my power supplies which put out a nice 5.2 VDC, but inside the sealed box from China was the thing I have pictured below.  It's stem thing is flexible, and holds the shape you bend it into.  the white thing does not seem to come out nondestructively.

I'm beyond curious what was shipped inside my power supply box, but am not stupid enough to plug it into anything I like, or own.

Does anyone in the brain trust recognize it?

Could it be a USB powered LED task light that they threw in as a free gift or something? I wouldn't plug it into anything with a CPU either, but if you have a surge protector or something with USB outlets, you could see if it lights up.

It's what plants crave, a USB light.

You know, I'm not sure what all these other people are seeing, but it looks like an led light to me.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

It does seem to be a light.

Which is interesting, coincidence wise, because I kinda want a light for the web cam on one of my 3d printers, which has 5VDC handy for the Raspberry Pi that runs it, so I just need to make some kind of mount.

Still not going to plug it into a computer.
