Any KC metro APSers interested in a good dog?
« on: July 13, 2009, 10:18:48 AM »
My wife's daughter just moved back here from SC, we are caring for her two young boys while she tries to find a job and get a place.
Do to a previous experience she is not allowed to live here. (long story)
We also took in their small cat (not a problem this is a very feline friendly home) as well as their 9mo old dog Bear.

Well I from day one was of the opinion that it was ridiculous for her to obtain a dog when she is struggling to take care of herself and her children.
The 13yo hates the dog and the 3yo could care less.  So the dog is really the mothers pet not a family pet.

Sad as the situation is, he needs to find a good home where he can run free and get the attention he deserves.

I would prefer to find a home for him, but if that does not happen than we will relinquish him to a no kill shelter, and hope he gets adopted.

They believe he is a Lab and Boxer/Pitbull mix.
Here are a few pics, if anyone is interested or knows of someone that may be please PM me for a phone number.

He is fixed and had most his shots and will also come with a large kennel/cage 20' tether and leash

Puppy!

Seriously, that's a gorgeous dog. Is he house-broken/trained at all? What's his personality like?

Can it be trained to piss on Fistfull?
I needed a mod to change my signature because the concept of "family friendly" eludes me.
Just noticed that a mod changed my signature. How long ago was that?

My guess is he'd make someone a fine dog; intelligent eyes.

Good luck.

If we lived there, we'd take him in in a heartbeat!

I'll see your dog and raise you two horses.

If I didn't already have way too many I would.

He looks worth the few bucks for an ad in the local paper. If you get no takers try Wayside Waifs.

Balog- He is not allowed inside our home, so I'm not aware of how "house trained" he is.
I feel bad for the fact that he spends most his time in his kennel(located in the temp controlled garage), however he will do his business when asked to go potty.
And he has not had any accidents in his kennel.

His personality is quite jolly, he does have a small problem with jumping up on people.
But I attribute that to his being cooped up and not really getting enough exercise and attention.

We care for 15 cats, there is simply no way he can be allowed in the house.  We have our animals well being to be concerned about.

My wife and I had a plan in place.  I was to leave my job to finish up alot of loose end projects around the house and pursue a business plan I have had in the works for sometime. The week I gave my notice, the news that they were moving back from SC came.
Our plans instantly shifted to my taking in the boys to train them and provide the discipline and structure they had not had in their life.
The 13yo had been suspended from school for fighting and was smoking pot with some 21yo guys. As well as being flat out addicted to HALO and his xbox.
So he entered the veloce851 bootcamp for boys.

Between focusing on his studies and the work I am having him do, as well as managing a 3yo.  I simply do not have time to work on training a dog.

Jim- the only problem with Wayside Waifs, they euthanize.

Dog Daddy, how far away do you live.  Delivery may be an option.

KC... as in... Kansas City, MO? Let me talk to a friend, he goes back there now and then and he's been looking for a dog.  =)

Las Vegas eh....
My wife is ready to drive out there with him.
I suggested we try to find someone local first.
But we may just be willing to make the trek if we have no luck locally.

veloce851,

PM sent.

At this time, I have to back out on being able to take Bear in.  My very best wishes to the little guy, and I home someone else can step up and help him out.

Once again, I'm so sorry to have raised your hopes.
