Any LCD TV Techs?
« on: December 09, 2010, 01:33:12 PM »
I have worked on a few but this is my first LCD. Looks pretty straight forward.

It's a cheap Sylvania 32" from last years Black Friday sale. It made it a year and seven days. ;/

It has the red stand by light on but won't come on. I was thinking bulged cap on the power board. No bad caps, no blown fuses, I'm slowly running through the transistors and diodes a few at a time. What I don't know how to do is track down feed back loops that might have it shut down on another board.

Anyone have any helpful suggestions for me?

No power up with either the remote or the on-set button, correct?  If so, start with the power control circuit.

Nothing but a stand by light with power button or remote. I gave the power board a once over, I should get a chance to sit down tonight and test a little more.

I found a power board at shopjimmy for less then $30 but if it's just one component I should be able to fix it cheaper and faster.

Capacitors. Should be a set of three or four of them.

I haven't found a bad cap, transformer, resistor or transistor. I'm taking a break and then I'll put it back together and start tracing power.

It sure would be nice to know what the voltage to each section should be.

You're obviously getting power or you wouldn't have an indicator light at all, standby or otherwise.  Something is interrupting the power-on request sequence.  Can you order/download a technical manual from somewhere on the interwebz?

I'm getting some strange readings from a pair of MOSFETs on the inverter board. From tracing the board it looks like they are used to power the led transformers. I'll have to grab my parts box and see what I have.

I haven't found a manual that shows the exact model but I may buy a download anyway once I recheck the MOSFETs.
