It does not surprise me one bit that men finish faster then women.

Like I tell people when we have them over to eat or we go out and I finish first. I am here to eat, not make small talk. And yes, I am always the first one finished.

There has to be some sort of caveman/survival mechanism at play here.
Men eat faster so they can get back into the game faster to go kill more red meat to eat?
Men eat faster because they are most vulnerable when they are eating/sleeping?
How many CCW holders here always pick the chair/table in a restaurant that has a back to a wall and faces the door/cash register if given the choice?

Do you mean to tell me there are seats that do not?

BTW - when the significant other of the moment asks why they have to sit with their back to the door do not tell them "so you can provide cover for me".

Another pro tip - if you are going to sit side by side make sure her dominant hand is the opposite of yours.  Makes for les entanglement while eating and when drawing.  (This even applies to left-handed redheads. [tinfoil])

I've got a favorite chair in one place that not only faces the register and door, but faces the big glass partition for the kid's play area.

Reflections are your friend.

Even walking along the street... car windows, store fronts, etc.

 I eat quickly purely because of time constraints- we didn't have much time at lunch during K-12 and same thing for most of my college years. When I was a park ranger many days I seldom had time for lunch- I was lucky to get enough time to bolt down a sandwich.

Now I've got a 30 min lunch period...hard to get used to it.

Dad and I refer to it as the Hitchcock seat. Who gets stuck there is generally a bitter fought battle.

As far as men eating faster than woman, that is generally probably true. I am not one of those woman. I, unfortunately, tend to bolt my food.
