make a BIG payment on a credit card.

I wonder if Homeland Security is going to hang me up?

I'm actually thinking of making two payments over several days just to hopefully avoid that BS.

We're paying off a large debt, and I had the same concern. We called ahead to let them know the payment was coming. I don't know if it will make a difference, but we figured it couldn't hurt.

If you wrap your check in tin foil before sending it then you won't have any problems.

Mike,

HS is notified of any unsual activity (like big, one-time payments to credit cards) but they have bigger fish to fry. One CC payment does not a JBT visit make as long as the rest of your lifestyle is average enough not to garner attention.

Just pay the thing down and be happy you're not getting stuck for the interest every month!

I realize that. Unfortunately, though, according to the article from the Scripps Howard news service that was posted here a few weeks ago, DHS does NOT have bigger fish to fry. All fish are equally sized.

I just paid off my house, middle 5 figures, also credit line with the credit union, low 5 figures. I got a year's pay as severance when I retired last month.
