What the fashionable male will be wearing this year
« on: February 13, 2011, 08:00:40 PM »
It's amazing what passes for fashion. What's even more amazing is what now passes for fashion for men. Below is one of the latest examples from New York:

Let's see:

Ebony button-style earrings? Yup.
Rose-colored scarf? Check.
Handbag? Got it.
Skirt (excuse me, kilt)? Gotcha.

How long would that guy last walking down the street in your town before somebody started hassling him (or worse)?

No self-respecting Sotsman would be caught dead in an outfit like that. Actually self-respecting Scotsmen would give someone wearing that a sound drunken beat-down.

Not long.

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

Guys, you take whats featured, not the acessories or the item put up for attention grabbing.

The jacket and vest look nice. And warm.

Besides, high fashion is more 'art' then what people actually wear, and the 'artists' are a very mixed bag, to put it mildly....

He needs a sporran that's made out of a whole wolverine pelt, with the head still in place.

Ditch the white long johns in favor of calf length wool socks.

His shoes look, seriously, like something that's in fashion for teenage girls.

(I would not mind if kilts became more generally accepted men's ware.)

Just the shoes? He looks like a girl with short hair. And that's what the fashonistas want...to reduce the American male to this...

Yup.  Kind of a businesswoman look.

Our younger daughter is into the fashion scene.  She tells us (no surprise to me, was to my wife, who's kind of naive about these things) that most of the males involved are queer.

Yeah, pictures like that are always showing up in newspapers and TV, but most of it never makes it to Main Street, USA.

Also, the designer should be informed that "kilt" is not Scottish for "inside-out skirt."

Well, at least the kid wearing that "ensemble" doesn't look happy about it.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

That is his "pouty look".  All models practice it.   =D

The scarf is acceptable, it was the precursor to (and vastly superior to) the necktie. It's worn too high.
As for the boots, what's the issue with them? They seem to be a fairly typical low boot in brown leather.

The outfit is surprisingly conservative for that crowd. The boots appear to be laced up most of the way, which is somewhat rare.

Well, I plan to be rocking a nice bow tie and a new gray fur felt fedora.

Could someone explain the relevance (if any) of the semi-off-duty transvestite hooker in the photo to the subject?
