Any good makers of suede cowboy boots?
« on: October 12, 2009, 12:38:33 AM »
I need to get another pair of boots, and my wife has been complaining that I buy the same thing all the time: black leather.

That got me to thinking that brown suede would be a nice change, albeit only for times when the suede wouldn't get scratched.

I can't seem to find any such boots by decent makers. Does anyone know of some?

You want suede boots?  On purpose?   =)

Get some brown leather boots with a square toe.  Or get harness boots, since I thought bikers liked those, anyway.  Or you cut off the straps, and get square toed boots again.

Hm. The only company that makes cowboy boots that don't kill my feet is Justin Boots. I don't know if they make anything in suede but here's their website: http://www.justinboots.com/

I like Ariats.  They're made in China but they're extremely comfortable.

Get some ostrich hide boots....tough as leather, and pretty distinctive-looking.....

When I was younger (and had smaller feet), I had a pair of elephant-hide boots. They looked great, and were nearly indestructable. Not sure if you can get them now....at least, not through normal channels.... ;)

I've had suede boots before. They require extra caution, but I like the way they look.

I saw Resistol boots when I was searching, but I've never heard of them. Lucchese makes some brown suede boots, but they're about $460 and  not exactly what I want. For $460 they'd have to be exactly what I want. The Resistol boots are extremely close. But $120? That's cheap.

Suede boots.

I recall getting a pair of those.  I burned off all the nap and got them to polish up OK with some black Kiwi.

I think they are called "rough-out"  ;)
