Somalia's al-Shabaab group has banned samosas after ruling the popular snacks are 'offensive' and too Christian.

...
It is now thought islamist militants have taken offence at the three-sided samosa's supposed resemblance to symbol of the Christian Holy Trinity.

ZOMG!  We're being oppressed by triangular snack foods.

I'm tempted to send them a case of Doritos.

Lulz.  A former girlfriend of mine is a Muslim, born in Sri Lanka and now a US citizen.  That girl had a fetish for samosas.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samosa#Etymology

Quote
The word samosa can be traced to the Persian "sanbosag".[1] The pastry name in other countries also derives from this root, such as the crescent-shaped sanbusak or sanbusaj in Arab countries, sambosa in Afghanistan, "samosa" in India, "samboosa" in Tajikistan, samsa by Turkic-speaking nations, sambusa in parts of Iran and chamuça in Goa, Mozambique and Portugal.[1] While they are modernly referred to as sambusak in the Arabic-speaking world, Medieval Arabic recipe books sometimes spell it sambusaj.[2]

Stoopid islamoradicals.

Because the last time we tried to do something about it, they shot down two of our helicopters, killed some of our guys, and publically mutilated their bodies, so we're basically down to letting them wallow in the squalor they've created or atmospheric nuclear testing in downtown Mogadishu.

So, to answer your question, I dunno.

why bother them  did they have something we wanted to use?
It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

So I take it their tech-types are going to stop using the Pythagorean Theorem, as well?

Does Somalia even have tech-types?

Our progressive types wanted us to play Policemen of the World and make sure that the absolute scum of the region weren't doing Bad Things.

Then a lot of the progressive types realized that in order to make an omelet, eggs must be scrambled. They now close their eyes, clap their hands over their ears, and commence chanting every time the word "Somalia" is uttered.

I had 3 of the "black hawk down" guys in my cab one evening, they were in Reno for some kind of military/weapons convention. They assured me they could have eliminated the warlord/militia if they had been given free reign.

Cant you get samosa at any Indian restaurant?
Politicians and bureaucrats are considered productive if they swarm the populace like a plague of locust, devouring all substance in their path and leaving a swath of destruction like a firestorm. The technical term is "bipartisanship".
