That's 65 of his own guns that the dingbat is melting because his new dingbat girlfriend told him to. He needs a new purse for his testicles.

A few interesting points to ponder:

He's getting rid of all his guns "...in the continental United States"
Charlize Theron's mother saved their lives with a gun and she considers her mother her hero.
Wasn't Penn convicted of at least domestic violence as well as other violent crimes? How is he owning guns in CA?
Anderson Cooper beat out Piers Morgan for the sculpture by $100K. So close. Darn.

The real shocker here? Sean-freaking-Penn owned more guns than I do? I've got a safe full, but nowhere near 65 pieces. I feel inadequate and vindicated at the same time...

Yeah, that kind of blew me away too as I had always considered him pretty anti-gun. Though didn't he show up in NOLA post-Katrina with a shotgun? I wonder if he's making the bodyguards and armed guards where he lives melt their guns too?

I don't remember a shotgun. He showed up with a small boat, a publicist, a photographer, and others. He forgot to show up with the drain plug for the boat, though.

Okay, if I was wealthy and a chick as good looking as Charlise Theron wanted me to make a gun sculpture, she MIGHT be able to convince me to find some cheap non-classic guns to do it with.

No way I am melting down my own guns. Even the ones I don't care about I can't see doing that. I had to work for the money I paid for those guns. I wouldn't melt down anything I had that much money tied up in.

Interesting that he specified the continental United States. I presume/guess/speculate from that, that he's actually trying to comply with some Federal law he didn't know about up to this point.

It makes me curious about what brought the issue up in the first place.

Interesting since he's a prohibited person either from a felony arrest for domestic violence against Madonna, which later was convicted as a misdemeanor under the Lautenberg Amendment.

I hear some people are agitating over this fact, and pushing for an investigation/prosecution, but nobody really expects anything to come of it. But IMO I think a full-court press by several 2A groups and various right-wing concerns who ought not like him over his politics and support for Chavez and Venezuela would be a good thing. Not so much as to punish Mr. Penn, but to teach the Left in general that they might want to reconsider their usual M.O. of constantly looking for "gotchas" when it comes to people on the right or RKBA in general.
