If you're the praying type. If not maybe just a positive thought, or do something nice for someone you think you can tangibly affect.

After 10 1/2 years of what I thought was a great marriage I got hit by a bombshell today that it's not as great as I thought. The shock is wearing off and I can already see the depression waiting in the wings.

Please pray for me that Jesus (or Allah or whoever you pray to) will help me get through this like a rightous man.

"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God."  (Luke 12:6)

The same God that watches over even the sparrows is with you through this.  As are my prayers.  I hope things work out for you.

Prayers on the way.  Remember - no matter how bad it seems now, it's only a temporary situation.  I guarantee it.

Oh dear, really sorry to read this. Keep your chin up and your dignity in public. make sure you don't just keep saying "yeh, I'm ok" if you're not. Thats what friends are for, tell them.

My sympathies stand and some non denominational, non hippyfied, positive energy coming your way. You WILL get over this.

Sorry to hear this. Just starting to get out of a personal depression myself, and wish you the best of luck going through yours. Just remember that this WILL pass, and although it's really trite to say it - you'll probably feel you're better off when you're done.
I'll put you in my pipe when I pray.

Been there, done that, Stand_watie. No matter how horrid things seem at times, you can get over it, and even be a better man for it. You may not believe that, but it's true.

Praying for you both...

"Yea though I walk through the valley of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me." Psalm 23:4

I know it suck right now, but you will get through this and life will be good again. I can only imagine you can't believe that right now, but I have been though quite a few turbulent times in my life and I am still here and life seems to get better the more time goes on.

Hang in there bro. When having to end any relationship, from a business partnership to a long term relationship, bitterness never helps.

Some more support coming from me, prayers on the way. And as someone who went through it, hang in there. It takes a little while but you will get past it.

Consider it done....prayers and thought on the way...Being one who has been in that same dark place...allow me to suggest finding a good therapist to help you get through the tough times. It will help....trick is to find one who guides you to make your own decisions, not one that tells you what to do. Hang in there...better days are coming.....mack

Here's what I think about in your situation:

A Psalm of Life

Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
     Life is but an empty dream! --
 For the soul is dead that slumbers,
     And things are not what they seem.

 Life is real!  Life is earnest!
     And the grave is not its goal;
 Dust thou art, to dust returnest,
     Was not spoken of the soul.

 Not enjoyment, and not sorrow,
     Is our destined end or way;
 But to act, that each to-morrow
     Find us farther than to-day.

 Art is long, and Time is fleeting,
     And our hearts, though stout and brave,
 Still, like muffled drums, are beating
     Funeral marches to the grave.

 In the world's broad field of battle,
     In the bivouac of Life,
 Be not like dumb, driven cattle!
     Be a hero in the strife!

 Trust no Future, howe'er pleasant!
     Let the dead Past bury its dead!
 Act, -- act in the living Present!
     Heart within, and God o'erhead!

 Lives of great men all remind us
     We can make our lives sublime,
 And, departing, leave behind us
     Footprints on the sands of time;

 Footprints, that perhaps another,
     Sailing o'er life's solemn main,
 A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
     Seeing, shall take heart again.

 Let us, then, be up and doing,
     With a heart for any fate;
 Still achieving, still pursuing,
     Learn to labor and to wait.

   -- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
