God has decreed that American political dynasties decline sharply in suitability for office with each iteration. Call it the George H.W.-George W.-Jeb rule. Quit after the first iteration. Don’t trot out the second one. And, for the love of God, don’t trot out the third. Forgetting that rule harmed the Democratic Party in 2016 and blew up the Republican Party entirely.

So the party currently wallowing in impotent rage was "harmed" in 2016; while the party controlling 2 (if not 3) branches of government, and a majority of state governments was entirely blown up in 2016?

People make a bit too much of degrees from Oxford or Harvard or Yale. An ex-girlfriend went through Harvard Law. She said while it was hard to get in (for a non-connected person), her big surprise was that once you were in, they made sure, by any means necessary, that you made it through the program, no matter how much of a knucklehead you were, because dropouts are really bad for advertising.

I don't begrudge them franking privileges, free phone, travel, and IT services and even a modest pension for their services, but when they can vote enormous perks for themselves, it motivates them to hang on forever --or for as long as they can deliver the pork, and the hell with the nation.

Term limits!  And don't give me crap about how their "expertise" and "experience" would be lost after only 2 or 3 terms.

It worked because, either though neither one was re-elected, their presidencies weren't seen to be failures and both father and son are both considered to have been extremely able and astute politicians.

While the article claims she's everywhere lately, the only place I've really seen her much is National Review which is rather ironic. They've had 4 articles about her in the past month and this one, explaining how boring she is, managed to be even more boring than its subject.

While the article claims she's everywhere lately, the only place I've really seen her much is National Review which is rather ironic. They've had 4 articles about her in the past month and this one, explaining how boring she is, managed to be even more boring than its subject.

Everything she says is a platitude wrapped in a cliché washed down with a bromide.
