Of course you aren't going to repeat yourself.  You haven't addressed the issue yet.  ;)

Werewolf brought up an alarming prospect, that of manipulating election results through taxation.  Those not paying taxes are more likely to vote for politicians offering socialism and wealth redistribution, and those paying taxes are more likely to vote against same.  Fair elections become less and less likely as the tax burden is shifted off the electorate as a whole and onto a wealthy minority.

No, I take offense to the notion that American citizens who don't pay taxes should have no say in their government.

But he didn't say that.  There is a difference between saying that non-tax-payers will vote for the wrong things, and saying that they shouldn't have the vote at all.

His point seems to simply be that, if half the voters aren't paying taxes, they will vote for politicians and policies that take more and more money from the tax-payers, and give it to the non-tax-payers.

And he seems more troubled by the contracting tax-base, than by the extent of the suffrage.

In counterpoint, it might be suggested that the lower brackets of income are less likely to vote.  If this be the case, much more than fifty percent would need to be tax-free, before they would form a majority of actual voters.

Sorry I'm late for the party. ;)

I saw Werewolf's point, and then replies suggesting ways that people should be restricted from voting.

The point Werewolf is making is frightening, and has already been noted by conservative columnists. Not all of the people who don't pay taxes vote, nor will all of the people who won't be paying taxes vote Democrat. But Obama is increasing the odds of getting more Democrat voters.

Add to those the number of well-off folks who vote Democrat (why?), and the Dem's could have a lock on power forever.
