Oh that was yummy!

Made a big pot of ham and beans in the crockpot today, A little garlic, some onions, bell peppers, fresh ground black pepper and a big ole slab of ham all diced up.

On the side I made a batch of cornbread. Fresh ground Floriani Red flint corn, some fresh ground hard red winter wheat, a dash of salt, bacon grease, buttermilk, baking powder cooked in a sizzling hot cast iron skillet with about 2 tabespoons of butter melted in the pan.

I'm looking forward to some left overs.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

A country boy can survive ...   ;)
Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward toward the light; but the laden traveller may never reach the end of it.  - Ursula Le Guin
