4 new, 1 used, approx. 4k rounds ammo. A full safe is a happy safe.

I did not buy any last year since I already have around 21 longarms and handguns and the safes are pretty much full.  If they become more available, a Taurus TCP738 and a Ruger LCR may well make it to my buy list, though.

No new firearms last year. Since I roll my own I only bought 100 rds. of 22 Mag.

I think my brother made up for me. I know he bought 6-12 like he has every year for several years. I'm sure he picked up a few thousand rounds. He says he can't reload fast enough for some of his weekends.

No new guns for me, but I did take my brother's vintage Winchester '94 under my wing for "safekeeping."

It's hard for me to justify a new gun when there's so many of mine I haven't shot in several years.

I, uh, didn't buy any last year...nope, nope...not a one.

In fact, all that I had were lost in a terrible boating accident right over a very deep trench off of the California coast.

Yeah, that's it, a *very* deep trench...

All I bought in 2009 was one (1) box of ammo.  =(

5 new (to me on 2 of them) guns last year and ammo in the low thousands.  I only see 2 firearm purchases in 2010 for me..  a .22 bolt action rifle or .17 hmr and a 1911.

What stood out to me is N. Korea has almost as many troops as the US, and they listed the People’s Republic of China and Republic of China as seperate armies.  I must have missed that day in school.

I started to say I didn't buy a single gun last year, then I remembered that really nice little 38 that my wife confiscated after she shot it.  So I guess I did my part. ???

Yes.

And further, both PRC, and DRPK tends to count all it's schoolkids who've ever been handed an AK (or an air-rifle even) for a weekend "exercise" and various paramilitary auxiliaries (ditch diggers. cannon fodder) as "troops".

Although the PRC is modernizing at a ferocious rate. I don't deny that.
I promise not to duck.

Our office manager went a bit overboard.  Ruger Mark I, old Detonics .45, Springfield XDm 9mm, and a Savage .223, all within the space of a few months.  A lot of "is this a good gun to get?"

Not sure that I'll purchase any in 2010.  Would like to maybe get another .45, either a G21 or springfield.  Not sure what else.

Have you checked out the S&W M&P? The trigger can be made a good deal nicer if that has thrown you off in the past.

Yep, the trigger on my m&p 40 was really stiff when I got it, like gritty Ruger double action revolver stiff.  I sent it into Burwell to get a trigger job and now it is as nice as any trigger I have ever used.

Jamis, ypu should look long and hard at the XD45's. I love mine! I like it much better than any of the Glocks I've owned.

7 Hand guns, in 2008
1 hand gun in 2009, and 1 BFR. in 2009

I'm curious how many guns were actually purchased. Many states don't require a NICS check with a CCW, others have a state level check.

And then, of course, there's that infamous "gun show loophole" that in many states individuals can sell to other individuals with no background check.

I wish I lived in such an enlightened state. However, such sales are merely exchanges (or relocations) of firearms already owned by citizens, so I'm okay not including them in the number. The number of the most interest is the number of NEW firearms sold.

And maybe this year gun shops will actually have AR lowers under $200, Kel-Tec SU-16Cs, and actual ammo instead of a label on an empty shelf.

I am not holding my breath.

I'll look at the M&P and Springfield if I get out shopping this year.  I've shot the XD9 and had no complaints.  Might think about another 1911, too.  Would like to get some more trigger time this year, probably should order a case.
