Title: XT225
Post by: HForrest on July 12, 2005, 09:32:05 PM
I'm going to contribute even further to the recent barrage of motorcycle threads, to talk about a starter bike for me, at some point in the future. I like the Yamaha XT225... I have seen it recommended here, and I would really like a good starter bike that I can learn on off road and take off road, but still be legal to drive on-road when needed.

The thing is though, I am somewhat concerned with power. I am fairly overweight, about 180-190 pounds. Could I still function okay, and have reasonable power with 225ccs? This would be a starter bike, but I want to have some form of acceptable acceleration. My main use would be light/moderate offroad trails, but need to be able to drive with traffic on roads-everything short of freeway use.

Are you saying you are that much overweight, as in your pushing 300 pounds total, or is your actual weight 180-190? If the latter then the 225 is just fine.

You should be fine then. You want be chasing down any of the 600cc sport bikes, but you should be fine in every day traffic.

Jesus, Henry, you're turning anorexic... you've made a lot of comments about your weight recently, it aint that bad bro, you carry it really well... 190 really isn't HORRIBLE. At least you're not like me, 5'8 and barely breaking 130

Henry, You must be really short if that is overweight.  Maybe you should just get a scooter so your feet can touch the ground Tongue
