yeah we are all just tin-foil hat nutters because bills like this and abuse like that don't have anything in common S..u..r...e...
Now that I'm on record as a *GASP* "constitutionalist"!! who has made threats contrary to The Smith Act. I better be worried that if one of my cats is injured and I don't whisk it away to the vet I might expect a visit from SWAT. yippee
SWAT team force was justified because the father was a "self-proclaimed constitutionalist" and had made threats and "comments" over the years.
Hmmm I wonder if I could form aluminum in the shape of a fedora?
. . . Shiflett was "rude and confrontational" when the paramedics arrived and entered his home without his permission.
This could easily be regarded as a home invasion, with a reaction that would go FAR beyond "rude and confrontational" . . .
I can't believe that guy's not in jail! I mean c'mon! Thinking he can take care of his own son AND being rude to those who suggest otherwise? No wonder SWAT was called in, he's clearly a dangerous lunatic.
I do hope this is sarcasm. In some states you can get killed going into somebodies house without permission, no matter who you are.
The family, whose members live by faith and homeschool, decided not to call an ambulance. But a neighbor did call Westcare Ambulance, and paramedics responded to the home, asking to see and evaluate the boy.
Why are so many people afraid of people of faith, that choose to live their lives as they wish.
They do not want their children indoctrinated with the secular humanism that is pervasive in our government propaganda centers, er I mean schools.
They want their children to be free to worship through out the day and live free from tyranny.
it's beginning to sound a lot more like this was the end result of a long-standing animosity he created for himself.
Animosity created with and by whom?
If I have a long standing disagreement over *insert confrontational issue* with a neighbor then I should feel I got what I deserved when the neighbor out of spite and hearsay engages the full force and might of the government upon me?
Regardless of the mans demeanor the intrusion was not warranted.
I don't care if the guy is a bona fide nutjob, the simple fact is that if the children are being fed and not being abused, the government shouldn't be involved in any way whatsoever.
The worst case scenario here would have been a visit by CSS and a doctor to the house.
The use of a SWAT team was abhorrent.
The sheriff should have used better judgment, and frankly from his statements should be removed from his duties.
The sheriff said the decision to use SWAT team force was justified because the father was a "self-proclaimed constitutionalist" and had made threats and "comments" over the years.
However, the sheriff declined to provide a single instance of the father's illegal behavior. "I can't tell you specifically," he said.
"He was refusing to provide medical care," the sheriff said.
An outright lie, the father provided medical care, he just chose not to rack up unnecessary bills with a 3rd party. He still administered medical care.
"He's got one of the best shiners I've every seen," Tom Shiflett said of his son.
John Shiflett yesterday told WND that the doctor at the hospital took his blood pressure four times, and asked him if he was on any medications.
"They asked if I was healthy and I said yes," he said. Doctors also did several X-ray procedures to evaluate his injury, and told him to drink a lot of cold liquids and "keep an ice pack on my head." he said.
"That's exactly what we were doing at home before we were interrupted," he said.
However, the sheriff said if his own children were involved in an at-home accident, he would want to be the one to make decisions on their healthcare, as did Shiflett.
"I guess if that was one of my children, I would make that decision," the sheriff said.
So he's capable of making that decision on his own, but the lowly serf is not.
