WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA)-- 9NEWS NOW's Bruce Leshan has learned from Capitol Police sources that they have arrested an armed man.

The man was walking down 1st St NE with a tactical vest, a loaded shotgun, a tactical bow and arrow and a samurai sword in a hidden case behind his back.

His Chevy with Utah license plates came up positive for explosive traces when the dogs sniffed it. There are more weapons in the car.

The area has been cordoned off during the investigation.

9NEWS NOW Reporter Audrey Barnes is on the scene where officers are going over the man's belongings.

I really hate some of the story writters these days.

It's black.  Black makes it tactical.

I fail to see what the problem is.  He was not harming anyone.  I am sure that the DHS will have him arrested as a terrorist.  Thanks "W".

You know... Ever _really_ take a look at the guys fondling the cheap samurai swords at gun shows? Those folks make me nervous... You just KNOW that some day they're gonna come out of their folks' basement, and commit mayhem.

Those cheap samurai swords are great for splitting lead bullets.  .22 to 1 oz. 12 gauge.  I'll have to buy another one and try higher velocity jacketed bullets.  The old one broke in half from hitting it on the side.

So, before the Bush presidency theocratic dictatorship, this fellow would have been able to enjoy a pleasant stroll through DC, with his loaded shotgun?

As much as I'm not a fan of police states there aren't too many places in America that allow you to walked around with a loaded shotgun.

He would not have been able to do carry a loaded shotgun.  However he would have been a criminal and that is all.

I am sure the DHS guys, whose department was created by Bush, will probably us.se this as an excuse to attack the 2nd amendment right

You are sure, huh?   cheesy  The 2A is already a dead letter in D.C.  How much more could it be infringed?   undecided

I take it you're not aware that felons can't possess firearms, period?

Also, trenchcoats as mentioned are a symbol of antisocial youth that seek to be different by all wearing the same thing. It makes other people snicker due to the irony of that fact.

I'm well aware, just don't believe that it should effect your 2A rights.

If you're saying that people who have been convicted of violent crimes ought to be allowed to have firearms, I don't think you've lived in the world long enough yet.

Oh, I dunno.  We've had this discussion before but I think the nature of the crime and the circumstances should be taken into account.  A blanket restriction is probably a little more on the utilitarian side than I like.

In this case though, like the guy caught recently in Manhattan with the rifle and stuff in his car, I think the totality of the circumstances supports the police confronting the guy.

Check your logic.

A convicted felon who has served his prison time is, once again, a free man. If he hasn't "paid his debt", why is he out of prison (note: I'm not talking about parole, nor am I a fan of parole)? If he still chooses to live a violent, lawless life, the prohibition on felons owning firearms is not going to stop him - witness as an example this very news story.

Those who state that felons who have served their prison time should not be allowed a choice to properly provide for their own protection are just as repugnant to civil rights and the Second Amendment as the rest of the gun control mob.

so, the felon's actions should carry no lasting consequence?  I take it you're no fan of captial punishment either??

Anything can eventually become a felony, how long till the simple act of owning a firearm is a felony?

Black carbon fiber does not make a bow "tactical".

A Picatinny rail mount for the EOTech scope, laser sight and faux grenade launcher, THAT makes it a tactical bow.

As you were.

Now that is a different issue.  So your answer to bad felony law is to make another law(or get rid of one).  I think you would find it much easier to correct issues with felony law than get a majority to agree to giving violent felons gun rights.

I like how people interchange "felon" with "violent felon" however it best suits their argument.

Or I guess we could just get someone to fund that section of the ATF that is supposed to review cases and restore gun rights.

Given reality, that's something I'd kick in a few tax dollars for.

Personally I like his statement that will never be heard. Make all the laws you want, criminals wont listen or abide by them. Kinda odd that the media never released his name. I want one of those assault bows though, roflmao.
