Title: If Obama is elected, what will his Cabinet look like?
Post by: Poper on March 21, 2008, 09:34:15 PM
OK, I finally registered here because I think this post may be something few people have given serious thought to recent published events regarding Obama's relationship with his Pastor, Mentor and friend Reverend Wright.  It seems plausible that Rev. Wright may have had significant influence on Obama's attitudes and political proclivities when viewing some of Rev. Wright's recorded passionate political sermons coupled with a 20 year association.  Not only is Wright willing to play the race card with enthusiasm, he is also the Minister that officiated his wedding, baptized his children and has served as political as well as spiritual advisor. This HAS to exert some influence as does his already demonstrated liberal (though limited) political record to date.

Ok, my wife and I had a brief discussion about this and some very scary thoughts came to mind!  shocked

Barbara Boxer or John Conyers - Secretary of State?
Ray Nagin - Director of FEMA?
John "Viet Nam" Kerry, Patrick "Leaky" Leahy or Charlie Rangel - Secretary of Defense?
Jesse Jackson - Secretary of Treasury?

Anyone care to offer their guesses?

Well, that's an easy question.

Daley puppets.

He's a product of the Daley machine, remember? He's beholden to him. Just like Illinois' governor is a Daley puppet, Obama's cabinet would be Daley puppets.

We'd have Chicago politics on the national level.

Your Eminence, the Poper,

Why are you connecting Obama's choice of preacher with his choice of cabinet?  I'm afraid you're just going to turn off a lot of people who are tired of talking about that, and stir up a lot of off-topic chatter among those of us who aren't.

Speaking of which, here goes.   smiley  I don't worry so much about Wright's influence on Obama.  More important is what Obama's association with Wright and his church tells us about Obama's own political views.  Sorta like you don't find too many supporters of RKBA being members of the Brady Campaign for twenty years.

Close the thread.  No one can top gunsmith.   grin

He'll probably get most of his cabinet from the faculty of Berkley.

. . . John "Viet Nam" Kerry, Patrick "Leaky" Leahy or Charlie Rangel - Secretary of Defense?  . . .
Don't forget Congressman Jack Murtha . . . and Harry "The War Is Lost" Reid is in the running, too.

And I hear Jane Fonda is ready for a political appointment . . . if not Sec Def, maybe Secretary of Veterans Affairs, or ambassador to Vietnam.

Charlie Rangel may accept a job as top man at the Selective Service Administration, seeing as how he's been pushing to re-institute the draft.

John Dingell could be Secretary of Energy, giving him a bully pulpit to push his 50 cent per gallon gas tax idea.

The Swimmer could be the new head BATman . . . or maybe AG? shocked

Osama's cabinet? As the years go by, they will grow stooped, grey, weak and haggard looking like most mortal folk, unlike him who does not appear (at least from his published grainy super 8 movies) to age even in a decade.

For the sake of diversity, he'd appoint at least one "typical white person".

Joking aside, you'll see not only the appointment of provocative (to conservatives) choices by the great uniter but the wholesale expansion of government cabinets to appoint to. For example, Departments of:
I also expect that an Obama (or Clinton) administration would be highly directive of the Department of Education. They'll continue to erode teaching civics and history other than the Civil War (or War Between the States, if you prefer) and the civil rights movement, completely ignoring the Founding Fathers, the Constitution and the concept of limited government. The ideology of liberalism is a vampire that only thrives in the shadows of ignorance and quickly dies in the light of reason and scrutiny; every attempt will be made to ensure that children don't know their rights and never understand their proud history of sovereign, individual Americans. Of course, this argument will be phrased as "We need to teach more math and science to have more engineers and scientists!"

This statement, by the way, is being made by an engineer. We don't need more engineers as badly as we need informed voters!

I would expect his selections to parallel his schtik.  Unknown to the general public with very little documented history.  Over time as we learned who they are, we would marvel at their extreme ideological and off the wall beliefs.  I used to think O'Bama was a sniveling politician without to spine to take a stand.  I now conclude O'Bama is an establishment politician who has carefully developed and implemented the tactic public blandness and private virulence.  We will never learn about this dude from mainstream media.  I suspect the same thing about those he wants to bring to the white house.
