Title: You know what I love?

I love when you go outside, after smelling gasoline for a couple days, and find your second leaky tank on your pickup. You know, the one you just filled? So you get all your gas cans together with a nice piece of tube and you proceed to try and siphon out as much gas as you can so it stops dripping on your new asphalt driveway. THEN, no matter HOW HARD YOU TRY NOT TO, you manage get a mouthful of gas somewhere along the line and swallow some so that now, 3 hours later, ever time you burp you still taste gasoline. Yea,,,I love that...  grin

I have had gasoline in my mouth once, and only once. It's funny, it almost compels you to involuntarily swallow it, for some reason.

Jesus, dude, go to the auto store and get some of the epoxy putty that allows you to fix that gas tank while it's still leaking.

I did that to the Ex's car and it held for nearly 5 years.

Nah, the damn tanks are rotted. I lost the front one about 6 months ago and was living on the rear. Now the rear started. Sigh... Major work ahead for me I guess.  undecided

I wouldn't care as much but I just blew a wad on replacing the Plymouth. When it rains it pours, in this case gasoline...  sad

Luckily I have a brother that works at a Ford dealership so I can get the factory parts at cost. The front plus fuel pump (which you might as well change while you're at it) was ~$350 I imagine the rear is about the same. I was thinking about recycled parts but who knows what you're getting and I know I don't want to have to do it again in a few years. I'm sure the whole job ain't much fun. I'm thinking I should sand blast and undercoat while it's all exposed too. It's looking a bit rough under there. Sat on a gravel drive for a while, that really messed it up. Plus, it's getting busy and I need the truck. Oy...always at the worst times these things happen.  rolleyes

Or you might want to get non-corroding aftermarket replacement fuel tanks, instead of the same thing over again?

Ford's problem has long been a sort of biodegradable metal on their vehicles. Parts of the underside are crumbling to rust while European and Japanese cars are still clean. Not sure what's up with that.
