Mother Sues Town After Child Steps In Dog Dropping
Conn. Woman Claims Entire Day Was Ruined When Her Toddler Stepped In Dog Feces
NORWALK, Conn. (AP) ― A New York woman has filed a $100 claim against Norwalk, Conn. saying a family outing to the Maritime Aquarium was ruined by dog feces.

The woman claims her child's shoes, along with the entire outing, were ruined when her 1-year-old stepped in dog feces outside the Maritime Garage.

City attorney M. Jeffry Spahr said the official response is that her claim is denied and, in his words, "poop happens."

Kelly DeBrocky of Mahopac, N.Y., wants the city to reimburse her for $54 she spent replacing her toddler's ruined shoes and the expenses for parking and aquarium admission on April 5.

Can we have $1K+ fines for wasting the court's time, yet?

I wonder if the stupid *^)(&*%$ has ever heard of soap and water?

I wonder if her brat has ever blown a diaper and gotten crap somewhere in her house where it's not supposed to be? Whom does she sue then?

The manufactuer of the diapers.

I JUST STEPPED IN DOG POOP! I'M GOING TO SUE!

Oh, wait. It was Mason's poop. I was cleaning up the back yard. And if there's one great truism in the American legal system, it's that you shouldn't sue poor people, including yourself.

The town of Londonderry, NH owes me a FORTUNE.

On a related note, the closest I have ever come to shooting an unsuspecting stranger with a paintball marker was due to the same issue.

I think there is a typo there. It looks like they added an extra "n" in the first word.

I think Mike Irwin got it right in saying has she ever heard of soap and water.

Ruined shoes?  What, her washers broke?

I'm surprised she only spent $54 on his shoes instead of buying him a $150 pair of Nike's.

Why is she spending 54 bucks on shoes, anyway?  For a toddler?

The $54 was for the shoes, parking, and admission to the aquarium.

She's suing for 100 bucks, so I think the fifty-four just covers the shoes.

If so, that's ridiculous.   I wouldn't think of spending more than $30 for a pair for me.  My kids are limited to $20.  But then, anyone who would bring a lawsuit for such a petty amount of cash probably has little if any fiscal responsibility / understanding.

Seriously, who buys $54 shoes for a one year old? How long do they fit, like a couple of months?

My kicks are about 160, which is more than I've ever paid for a pair of boots.  But I expect them to last a few years.  Of course, I bought those a few years ago, before I became dirt poor.

Honestly, Ben, I suspect there are a lot of people paying that much.  I mean, you got have your kid wearing Sean John and Abercrombie, right?

Kudos on at least letting a 1 year old walk.  But she should have at least been watching where the child did walk.  Like to see the area in which the child stepped in it.  Was it covered in feces or was there just one large pile, and she was too stupid to lead her child away?

I tend to drop about $50 for a pair. Generally steel toed boots. Which I then make last until they are quite literally falling off my feet.

I don't get why she's only sueing for $100.  The emotional trauma caused by her day being ruined should be worth at least a couple million, right?

WTF.

$54 shoes?

The ones I am wearing now cost me $40, and half of that was shipping.

Hell the boots that I am wearing right now cost me nothing.  Of course they are tan in color and the tax payers paid $74.34 for them.

Ah, she only lives in Norwalk. If it said "Greenwich Woman" they would have been the $150 Nikes.  grin

How soon before they fall apart?

The ones I am currently wearing are a year and a half old.  Started wearing them end of November of 07 and wore them almost everyday during my last deployment and train up for this one.  Started rotating boots everyday once I got to Iraq this time.  So from Nov 07 to Feb 08 they were my everyday boots.

Still going strong.  The only issue is broken laces.

Maybe we should sue this woman for making our taxes increase.  I figure if we all sue as a class action for $0.01 each plus legal fees we could each walk away with a nail or shingle of her house.  I claim dibs on a nail - scrap metal prices are high now!

tip from someone who steps in dog doo everyday (i work in a kennel, its a hazard of the job) struff feet in gravel then hose off.

duh.

my last pair of boots cost about $190. i need water proof boots that i can do a lot of standing and walking in. they have lasted two years and are failing apart due to the unreasonable demands i make of them. i think they can last a little longer.
of course my feet settled into a womens size 10 about 15 years ago, so its not like i'm gonna grow out of them in two months.  rolleyes

Bellevilles or Altamas?  I prefer the latter.

Hey, do the services issue any black leather boots, anymore?
Title: Re: Kid Steps in Dog Poop, Mom Sues City

My favorite pair that have been going strong for a year are Bellevilles.

I don't believe any service use the black leather on a regular basis.

101st, 82nd and some of the Spec Ops groups will still wear bloused black leather ones with Class A's.

54 for a toddler?  WTF?

I'm wearing steel toe leather boots that I got for 30.

Even so, as said, poop happens.   Get over it.

I got a pair of 'cruit boots that I got issued back in '83, they've been resoled 3-4 times, still going strong.

I've also got my Danner "Go Devil" boots that I got in '86, also still going strong after being resoled 2-3 times.  However, I need new plastic inserts.

Milstandard boots can and do last for four, five, six years.

Note I said military standard boots, not the boots the military ACTUALLY issues.

I went through four pairs of army-issue shoes while in the IDF. They were terrible. Cheesy

I'm assuming this is a Marine/Army mistranslation here. For us, Class A's (Alphas, as we called em) were the green dress uniform. Long sleeve shirt and tie, jacket etc. Please tell me the Army doesn't wear bloused boots with their dress uniforms.

Members of the 101st and 82nd do.  Most people will wear jump boots, but whatever is worn is highly polished.  Also usually members of a funeral detail will do the same.
