Title: Okay, this is what you call an engine swap...
Post by: Manedwolf on July 18, 2008, 07:14:55 AM
Ha! Old CRX. They're popular for people who want to play with B-series engines and make a little rally car.

Never seen this done with one, though! Whatever the performance, the startup sound is amazing.

The motto of gearheads. "Because they can." cheesy

I wonder what the top end performance is?

So is this a straight jet, or does the engine power a gear train?

Turboshaft, as you'd find in a helicopter or APU. The exhaust is just an exhaust. I'd guess that one is an APU.

RWD or FWD Huh?

If the latter, then they would need a shaft running from the back to the front.

Sounds awesome but oh my the mileage must be terrifying. Jets tend to be terrible while idling as we discovered with the Abrams.

Oh, it's completely impractical. But for hardcore gearheads, it's like mad-scientist stuff. Sure, it's absolutely useless, but it's COOL. cheesy

Also, here's the same car on a higher speed pass on a road.

Mileage is probably not good, but it can probably run on any kind of fuel at all.

how is having the exhaust nozzle less than an inch away from the plastic taillights not causing a fire?

i thought the exhaust gases on these things came out at over a thousand degrees?
