Title: A.H.S.A running pro-Obama ads on radio...
Post by: Green Lantern on September 16, 2008, 02:10:34 PM
101.5 WQUT (Johnson City TN) is about to get an earful from me...

For those not in the know, http://www.huntersandshooters.com/index.php is an alleged "pro gun" group, that has endorsed Obama for president.

AHSA has as much credibility as a "pro gun" group as PETA would have as a pro fast-food restaurant lobbying group.  angry

If the station wants to run a straight-up Obama ad, more power to them.  But they shouldn't be spreading ASHA lies like "Both McCain AND Obama will support your right to own a gun and defend yourself!"  shocked

^^^  The radio site, if interested....

A.H.S.A. has long been known as an anti-gun group that pretends to be for us, while actually throwing us under the bus. They hope that there name and seemingly pro-gun stance will get them money and support.

Don't be fooled.

Board Member Ray Schoenke has supported myriad liberal causes in recent years. He has made political contributions to Al Gore, Barbara Boxer, Bill Clinton, Dianne Feinstein, Ted Kennedy and John Kerry. In 2000, Schoenke donated $5,000 to Handgun Control, Inc. Contributions were also made to HCI by the Ray and Holly Schoenke Foundation, enough to earn him a slot as a major benefactor of the annual HCI fundraising dinner.

Board member John Rosenthal remains the leader of Stop Handgun Violence, the Massachusetts anti-gun group. He, too, is a former member of the HCI board of directors.

...

AHSA board member Joe Vince is a former BATF employee who made himself infamous as a key architect of the Clinton-Gore regulatory assault on the Second Amendment.

Gah, even worse than I remembered....

I REALLY hope that very few people within broadcast range are gullible enough to fall for that guy's Bravo Sierra...!

UPDATE...sorta...

I used the Form on the site and got a response back within 24 hours (As opposed to the e-mail which was ignored:)

Thanks for you comments on the Obama ad.  Federal law does not allow us to pull the ad or deny the candidates access to the airwaves.   Complaints should be directed to the Federal Election Commission.

  Thank you for listening.

....Right.  So never mind what kind of lie is in the ad, they HAVE to take ads from a candidate?

Yes, which is the problem Obama is having with those NRA ads.

See, the AHSA ads come from "Obama For America" - Obama's OFFICIAL campaign.  NOT from the AHSA - they just used the prez IN the ad...

The NRA ads, AFAIK, come from the NRA.

Therefore...McCain needs to hire Cox/LaPierre or someone to say the same things in an ad paid for by the McCain camp, to put a stop to Obama trying to strongarm them off the air?

Maybe we should start a secretly pro-gun "gun control" group.

One thought: NoGFoG, or No Guns For Gangs.

Our goal? Divert money from the Brady Bunch and other filth to us, and advocate positions in line with our vision for eliminating violent urban crime.

For example, select-fire AR's would be provided on request to any American with a clean background (there's plenty of milsurp). Law-abiding citizens would be authorized to shoot anyone wearing a known gang symbol, flashing signs, or wearing gang colors, in Gang Free Zones. Anyone ever heard of a dead gangbanger killing someone? I haven't.

But but but think of the poor disadvantaged inner city urban youth!

They can't help that they were born into thuggary!

ARGH.  Now the station has ads with "NRA Member" Jim Webb on there, GUSHING about how he trusts Obama to protect the 2A...

Jim Webb is traitorous scum. AHSA is doing mass mailings here in rural redneck VA. Ray Schoenke is smearing his name all over the lie that both McCain and Obama will protect your 2a rights. He is an enemy of the Constitution.

Anyone can join the NRA.  That is nothing special to say.

Send a bigger donation to the NRA this month.  Maybe they can counter with their own radio ads.
