Title: What happens IF the President Elect...

... cannot assume the office of the President?

Suppose he's killed in a car wreck or something before inaugaration day?

I can't find any constitutional provisions that covers that scenario. Which doesn't mean it's not covered just that I'm not smart enough to find it. Maybe it's covered by statute.

Anyway what happens?

I would think that the VP elect would step up, but don't know for sure.
