Title: American Gun Culture Report

Looks like a pretty cool magazine.  American Gun owners, who aren't stereotypical right wingers.  Nothing wrong with stereotypical right wingers, of course, but that image does turn off some potential gun owners.

First impression I got was of something like AHSA, but that quickly went away.  Their logo in the upper right of the crossed AK and FAL rifles certainly wouldn't agree with that group!

Looks like a very new group, only have 2 issues of their magazine out... March 2007 and Summer 2007.  Nothing for 2008 out yet, so sounds like they are hurting for funding or readership.

That's a G3. Don't insult the noble FAL that way by mistaking the G3's horrific ergonomics of design for the FAL elegance. :P

Wow, my apologies.  You're right.  I don't know how I did that other than to say the blight of the AK distracted my eyes and made the other rifle look even more fair in comparison.

Bah. I like AKs. And even the AK "built for a short person" ergonomics are better than the G3's arm-torturing shoulder-punching awfulness.

On a similar note, I've subscribed to "Garden & Gun" magazine, featuring the best of classy Southern living.

Maybe not a bastion of AR and AK (and G3) owners, but don't misunderstand. Letters to the Editor whining about the name have more than once gotten a pointed reply amounting to "we are what we are - get used to it."

Looks like a gun magazine for the flaming liberal crowd. Not my cup of tea, but if it results in more pro-gun converts I'm all for it.

That's exactly what it is.  Gun owners can be flaming liberals too, and the editor does have a point, every gun magazine out there leans right wing.  I'm all for more gun owners, regardless of political leanings.

How can someone simultaneously like something and like the people who want to take it away from them? ???

Examine your "typical" Pink Pistol.

He's a gay guy.  May or may not be the submissive in the dating circle.  Will probably be pro-gay marriage.  As such, he'll be offended by talk radio and it's right wing slant against gays.  That will drive him to support a "Fairness Doctrine."

But, he doesn't want to get mugged/mauled/assaulted by all those rednecks with pistols and baseball bats and axe handles, so he carries a firearm for his protection.  Realizes there there are more threatening bugbears out there than the aforementioned rednecks, and joins the gun culture while still vehemently opposing the majority of the Republican/Conservative platform.

Not that hard to imagine, really.

I think the people who run that mag are probably more anarchist-left than socialist-obama-left.  But I could be wrong.

1. AKs rock!  =D 2. I didn't find shooting the CETME uncomfortable at all, and I am a small statured person.

Still doesn't explain how one wants to keep a Right, but votes for people who want to destroy that Right.  Or, speaking of the unFairness Doctrine, how one can be for the 2A, but want the .gov to crush the First.

Judging by their site a lot of PP members are libertarian rather than conservative.

Perhaps the gay guy doesn't care too much whether his Glock has 10 rounds or 17.  As long as he can carry it and use it to protect himself.  Perhaps he doesn't even KNOW that mag capacity is an issue in gun politics.

He just brushed the edge of the issue when buying a gun and getting a carry permit, and now he's moved on with an increased sense of self-protection, to rally for HIS hot-button issues like gay marriage or workplace profiling.

Many people truly don't see the 2A as a large issue.

It's pretty obvious that most of the Republican party doesn't. =|
