Oh my. These people are serious.

And to counter this evil, a friend an I have created Don't F With My Orbit.

I'd like to see those loonies explain how they're going to circumvent conservation of momentum.

Stop it! No throwing in logic or reasonable questions!

Ah-HA! I've got it!
They're planning to stand on each others' shoulders and jump OFF the Earth!
I suggest taking dontfwithmyorbit.com down at once and let 'em get on with it.

Hmm. You might be right. Perhaps I should consider supporting this movement
-
Wouldn't two people on exact opposite sides of the world cancel each other out? Shouldn't you get everyone in one place and do this, so the force is all in one direction?
-
jefnvk, yes, they are only trying to get people in the western hemisphere to jump.
-
Oh yeah, I'm doing it! You can thank me for fixing the planet later.
Now to find the 599, 999,999 other people in the Western Hemisphere who will do it with me.
Maybe a chain-email will do it...
-
Are they realy serious? It sounds like one of those plans where everybody thinks good thoughts at the same time and the world will be a better place, at least there is the same amount of science involved.

that strightdope is hilarious>>>>
Finally, they point out that discipline among the Chinese people has become notoriously lax since the Cultural Revolution, and many of the participants in the project could be expected to be fooling around when they were supposed to be jumping.<<<<<<<

But of course everyone pushing off the surface when starting their leap will just push us closer to the Sun.
THE FOOLS!! Don't they realize this is MADNESS?

I'd rather put everybody on one side of the planet and see if we can't induce a nice wobble to it's spin...
