Title: Texas Gun Owner's Association
Post by: Thor on December 13, 2008, 12:41:46 PM
Well, we have done it. WE have built a forum primarily for Texans and our struggle to support REASONABLE gun laws throughout Texas and the US. Please feel free to join our forum.  You DO NOT have to be a Texan to join, not everyone is so blessed.  http://txgoa.proboards.com/index.cgi and you are ALL welcome to join and participate there too!

REASONABLE gun laws
To me "reasonable gun laws" is an oxymoron.

Can you explain to me and  others just how you define "REASONABLE gun laws?"

To me, Vermont has the most reasonable gun law, but it fall short due to Federal regulations, by not allowing none violent felons to own or handle firearms.

Let me get this straight - "Reasonable Gun Laws" (scary Liberal-created term in itself) used in the same sentence as "Texas"?

Surely, somebody isn't feeling up to snuff, there.

WEll, as many of you know or don't, Texas has some pretty silly carry laws. Printing seems to be a major concern. The definition of "Concealed" is pretty strict. All in all, their carry laws need some revamping and loosening. There is an open carry movement here, too. (Open carry is not legal).  To me, THAT'S what I deem as "reasonable". I'd hate to get in trouble just because my sidearm "printed" or got momentarily exposed. At the present, I would call their laws unreasonable.

Not real difficult: the Second Amendment. Everything else is an infringement.

However, the law does specify that it's only a crime if the licensee "intentionally fails to conceal."

IMO, I'd rather they concentrate on reducing prohibited places and expanding castle doctrine, and leave open carry for a later session.  OTOH, TXCHLForum has already been over the open carry topics repeatedly.
