on Texas toast, with Mayo.
When I started eating it, I thought "Meh."
But, once I got past the crust and into the melty, cheesy middle - OMG. It was really good for fast food.
I was actually impressed.
They are $3.89, and very filling. Has anyone else tried these?

Sonic has some great stuff.
I've not had that particular sammich, but I had a similar one on the same texas toast with hamburger, bacon and onion rings on it with BBQ sauce.
I can't leave without a strawberry limeade. And fast food is always better with tater tots than fries.

I concur on the cherry limeades.
The patty melt would be tasty but I'd be on the toliet 30-60 minutes later from all the fat in it.
I think I might have to tell my wife we are going to DSM tonight so I can get a Cherry Limeaide from Sonic.

Every Sonic I been to tasted like nasty old freaking bad tasting stuff.
You guys must be lucky. The guys I know online in other places love them too. But I've had nothing but bad bad experiences.
I got a coffee drink once that was nothing but frothy bitter urine. Then I sucked an onion through the straw.
TL;DR: I hate Sonic.

Sonic is OK for fast-food burgers & fries . . . their shakes, on the other hand, have an unpleasant chemical flavor.
I used to say Wendy's was the best of the fast-food burger places, but found out that 1) at the local Wendy's, unless you're there during the rush, you WILL receive a pre-cooked burger that's been kept in the warming oven for quite a while, and fries that have been drying out under the heat lamps for a like period of time; 2) when you order a burger without mustard, you'll almost certainly get one WITH mustard; and 3) there's an 80% chance that whoever's running the register will not speak intelligible English.

Well, at least there aren't any Sonic's in Chicago.......for now.

In my area, Sonic is the best of the fast food available....gotta love the Super-Sonics and tots....top it with a Cherry Limeade or Ocean Water....that's gluttonous heaven for sure.... =D
Man, do I miss the Island Fire Burger they did once.... =(

in Maryland we had a couple of Checkers

We had Rallys in SW Va, but they've all gone. We have Checkers here in the Manassas area.
Truth be told, both were foul.

I like burgers, but that just looks horrible. I bet it isn't though.

I just checked, there are four of them in the Chicago Burbs. Aurora, Algonquin, Lockport & Country Club Hills.
They just built Sonic in Elk River, MN. I left for the Land Of Sonics almost a year ago, before it was completed.

Life is too short for cheap ice cream, cheap chocolate or fast-food burgers, I think.
If I want a burger, I go to a place that delivers to the table something cooked to perfection from top sirloin or ground angus, on a homemade bun, with fresh toppings and high-quality cheese. That, to me, is a burger. :)

They're my wife's favorite.
Manedwolf, no one really cares about your off-topic disdain for fast food. It's a fast food thread, so why bring it up? Besides, sometimes you just need to grab something quickly, and get back to work floating a sidewalk or whatever, which is what fast food is for. After all, You Gotta Eat. =)
