Title: A fashionable curmudgeon
Post by: Felonious Monk/Fignozzle on November 17, 2005, 08:56:32 PM
So I'm needing to buy some clothes, having worn out or gotten tired of some of my older stuff.
I am pretty much a classics guy:
Polo shirts, button downs, pleated pants in khaki, navy, and olive.
Rugby shirts in the winter.

Durn it, I cannot find for the life of me any good looking print polos.
I'm finding TONS of single-color or stripe stuff, but none of the nice print polos; for instance, black background, tropical leaf print; or the like.

I've run out of places to look.  I've checked (online) Sears, Penney's, Blair, Ralph Lauren, KingSizeDirect, and about a dozen other sites.

Anybody got a good lead on some FASHIONABLE print polo shirts?
FWIW, I need a 2x.

Thanks,
Fig

Seems like Macy's down here in FL always has what you are looking for.  Maybethey have them near you.  The 2X tend to run small so buyer beware.

Hey, no joke:  Try your friendly Goodwill store.  You'd be amazed at the new or nearly-new stuff people decide they don't want.  My wife's selling of a half-million bucks' worth of real estate last year doesn't mean she quit squeezing a nickel "until the buffalo shits", and she always looks like a fashion plate.

What about the local golf pro shop? They usually have stuff like that.

Thanks for the suggestions. All were promising,  Art, I'll check out the surplus places including Goodwill.
Pro Shops, too.

I checked the online suggestions, and maybe it's just the fashion fluctuations, but everyone is selling solids these days.

I guess by the time I catch on to a trend, it's already long out of style.
Although it makes it hard to find the clothes you want,
I kinda LIKE it that way. Wink

...See, here's my thing about the stripes:
Vertical, oh sure...slimming, right?  Except that on my body, you get this "wave pattern".
Horizontal?  Think: Michelin Man.

Not happenin'.

I've got solids in about every color of the spectrum, some (white, navy, yellow) several times over.

Maybe I shouldn't give a rip, just wear what I've got and the public be darned.
My constituency isn't large enough to warrant a wardrobe update.
The ladies at WalMart and the guys at the Mayberry hardware store don't give a rip what I wear anyway. Cheesy

They're more prevalent come summer, but I've gotten nice print polos from LL Bean.

Start a new trend, Figgy, start wearing  a caftan and wingtips.  I'll do it if you do.

Grampster, only if you do it during your next vacation at Key West.  I want to be there to see the reaction!

(And the speed of your getaway sprint... cheesy )
