Ultramax, Independence, whatever the stuff is at Cabelas in big tubs...
Do they change the headstamp of the ammo they load somehow?
Independence does; I have some of their stuff and it has the *I* headstamp on it. Though I've heard they are reloads, and their bullets are definitely plated-quality rather than jacketed-quality.
Never bought any Ultramax or Cabelas boxes, or any other commercial reloads.
Black Hills uses Winchester brass and doesn't re-stamp the headstamp... but I don't think they do "reloads." Just custom loads in high volume as an initial manufacturer.
What stamp is on Buffalo Bore, Garrett and those other boutique shops?

I believe for the most part Cabelas resells HSM ammo as their reloads. All of the ammo I have from that group has wildly random headstamps.

I don't remember with 100% certainty, but I believe I noticed mixed headstamps on some Ultramax I had awhile ago.
I don't see how it would be possible to change the headstamp on used brass.

Black Hills uses once fired Lake City brass for their blue-box remanufactured .223. I don't recall them stamping anything on the headstamp. I don't think they trim the brass, either.

K, then they use different brass for different products. Their match .308 is done on Winchester brass.

Yeah, that's definitely a higher end load.
Their blue box 55grn .223 is intended for training. It's much more affordable.
