Title: Ruth Bader Ginsburg says the outrageous, but nobody is outraged
Post by: Monkeyleg on July 16, 2009, 12:42:16 AM
I haven't seen anyone mention this. In Sunday's New York Times Magazine, Justice Ginsburg has the following to say about Roe v Wade:

"Frankly I had thought that at the time (Roe v. Wade) was decided there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don't want to have too many of."

Why isn't this news? We have a sitting Supreme Court justice saying that she thought Roe v Wade was about controlling the population of undesirables in our country, and the only place you'll hear about it is on conservative websites.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing.

Notice I didn't say that Ginsburg favored population control, only that she thought one of the reasons for Roe v Wade was that control.

Here's an article by Jonah Goldberg (http://townhall.com/columnists/JonahGoldberg/2009/07/15/ruth_bader_ginsburg_and_a_question_of_eugenics) that I think fairly describes what Ginsburg said and possibly meant to say.

That's ok.  Our current science "czar" was (is?) an ardent supporter of eugenics, forced abortion and sterilization (http://www.reason.com/news/show/134795.html).  :|

Sorry, Monkeyleg, but there's nothing the least bit amazing about it. Socialists are manning the last bastions of racism in America, and what's worse, they've made their selective racism the legal norm.

i'm strange. i tend to believe people mean to say what they say. we are far to easy on politicians, there one job is speaking looks like they could think before they start. And they claim to be such great linguists yet they can't put together a sentence to match a 3yo, umm ahh ummm ahhh umm um um ummmmm ahhhh

Maybe it's because of what I actually see every day in this courtroom, but the idea of forced sterilization may not be as bad as you would think, given the right due process and subjects.  I've seen so many women who use all sorts of drugs knowing that they are pregnant and not giving a damn what damage they are doing to the child, because they don't intend on raising the child...they intend on letting child protective services take and raise the child.  I"ve seen abusive men go from woman to woman, knock them up, then physically or sexually abuse the children until someone steps in and takes the children away.  On more than one occassion, I've looked at these people and truly thought that the system should have some way of preventing them from doing this sort of generational damage.  But, maybe I've become jaded after 15 years of seeing this...

First the Left creates a system of irresponsibility and unaccountability, then they "solve" the problem with draconian, liberty-killing measures.  Over and over we see the same thing.

Now they are trying to sterilize the entire economy and purify the environment.

These people have been obsessed with "health" and biological models from day one.  It might be worth the trouble to do some deep investigation of why.

Well, good luck to us.
