I see King Kong still has his scars from his butt-kicking by Godzilla.

Cheesy

I read an article where there were talking about his appearance. I guess the original "model" looked like a giant ape, but it appeared to be too clean-cut. So, they messed him up a little to indicate a hard life of battling dinosaurs on the island. He's supposed to have the appearance of a rugged old man who's been around the block a few times. Clint Eastwood fits that description to a T.

Heh -- he does kinda look like a grumpy old man in that picture.

"Hey you kids -- get off of my island!"

I've also heard, in popular media, that King Kong is a derogatory allegory to the Darwinist view of black people. Amazing how people will perceive things...

Weren't there two endings?  One for Japan and one for the US?

I've heard that, but I'm not sure if its true. I think Toho left the ending "open" on purpose to please both Japan and the US, kinda letting the viewers decide for themselves who won.

(it was Godzilla btw) Cheesy Tongue

Evidently (and this bummed me out when I found out about it) there were no alternate endings.  King Kong won in both versions.

Notice how they changed the natives in this remake so they're not black? Guess they didn't want Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton to come calling.... rolleyes

How pathetically politically correct can you get?

Seems to me that Skull island should be populated by islanders, rather than africans. Isnt it in the South Pacific? The actors looked a lot like the people I would expect to find on an island that had no contact with the outside world.
