Title: V
Post by: AZRedhawk44 on November 16, 2009, 05:38:39 PM
How did I miss this?

Wow, I love it!  I watched the first two episodes yesterday.  I love the play against "Hope-Change" and "Universal Health Care."

Stop, invert your review.

You put the simple "I love it" first.  As you should know, Americans are not allowed to enjoy anything except insmuch as it, first and foremost, is a thinly-veiled political allegory supporting their position.

See, it seems like all ripping on hope and change at the start, which fired up the right, but it was apparently produced by an uber-lib, which means there will surely be some sort of liberal Socialistic salvation forthcoming, which will make it bad.

Stop enjoying it (and no ogling Ms. Baccarin) until we see where it finally lands on the political spectrum.

Only political inclinations matter in this brave new world.  =)

The original will probably end up being better.

I'm still waiting for something exciting to happen. It's going kind of slow. Two more episodes until next spring and I'm not enthralled yet. I do think the plot so far is much more thought out than the original.

It's pretty obviously riding on the coat-tails of BSG sci-fi 80's remix, with a healthy nod to "The 4400."  Even has the lead from the 4400 as the priest in this series, and the address of the resistance meeting place was 4400 <<something or other>>.

I think the first two episodes were plenty fast enough, but I haven't seen episode 3 yet.

The original will probably end up being better.

Unlikely.  Most 80's techno-crap had horrible plots.  They got all hot and bothered by the special effects systems dreamed up by Lucas for Star Wars, and left the plot behind much like the CG-driven movies of today.

V was not a terribly complicated plot with lots of twists and turns and intrigue.  Nor was the original BSG.  Or Airwolf, or Knight Rider, or any of the other sci fi shows of that period.  Sci fi television "authorship" died probably until the Star Trek TNG series.
