I just got a notice in the mail from my credit card processing company about a card holder disputing a charge. It looks like somebody was able to scam me out of $500.
I'm very careful to verify that the name and address are what the card companies have on file, and that the shipping address is either the address associated with the card, or has some association with the customer (workplace, family, etc).
Somebody did their homework on this card. Everything checked out. The thief (or thieves) used the card all over the internet before the problem was discovered the next day.
I'll contact the cops in the small town where the scope was shipped, but I'm not holding out much hope.
It will take the profit from over a dozen orders to make up for that loss.

Sorry to hear, that sucks dude.

Serves you right. Profiter.
=D Just kidding.
Sorry, man. Hope they get skewered by nightsticks or something equally unpleasant.

Welcome to retail.

From the title, I thought you had purchased the Ronco Spray-on Hair. =D :P
On a serious note, contact the Post Office, assuming you used the PO, and file a mail fraud report. The Postal Inspector will investigate it, where the Police will drop it.

I have had my trust in internet security shaken earlier this year when a someone in indonesia got access to my online brokerage account.

I despise thieves.

I despise thieves.
They despise us, too. I think it might help if more of them caught lead.

Caught lead, eh?
No.
APS doesn't need that kind of reputation.
