Friend of mine is a dedicated audio junky. He's got tons of vinyl, a stack of reels, even a rack of 8-tracks and a couple of players (all totally functional - he refurbished them himself).  He has a room (not rack, ROOM) full of CDs in quantities that would make most record stores drool.  He just called to tell me he completed his remastered set of Pink Floyd, didn't need his previous (pristine look-like-brand-new) disks, and wondered if I wanted them.  Each and every disk PF ever issued.  All of them.  Free.  (well, not exactly free - I've done him a bunch of favors in the past and I have to help him move a couch this weekend, but he's buying the beer)

That's the kind of offer you "don't need no education" to accept.

pfft.  Soon as I get the disks here I'm going to do a marathon ripping session, then box the disks back up and store them ever-so-safely away.

Oh, CDs. I thought you were going to say you got the real versions. Sadly I only have 2 pink floyd albums on vinyl but I have the whole MFSL gold cd collection ripped to HDD.

my Saucerful of Secrets is quite nice with the printed inner sleeves

Sunday it's a marathon ripping session.  Only problem is I don't have enough hard drive space on the machine at home.  I'll have to run to the office, rip them, then save them to my portable backup drive.  Such a horrible inconvenience.  =D

I just opened the box and he threw in a bunch of Sinatra too!  (plus a note that the couch will be accompanied by a piano. Sorry bastige... )
