No-knock raids on home-schoolers?  Srsly.  That's all I can come up with.

Pretty much every government agency has an office of inspector general, which federal law enforcement that went through FLETC.  ED has Special Agents that primarily deal with fraud cases when it comes to Department of Education funds.

Have you ever seen The Birds? They attacked a pack of school kids, along with Tippy Hendren. Shotguns work very nicely versus birds. Thus shotguns for the D. of Ed.

That's DHS's job.    :P

Folks, it's shotguns for federal LE's.  Nothing overly surprising.  Don't go [tinfoil] on me now.  Granted, it's not remotely unreasonable to ask why virtually every agency or department HAS LE's if they are not a law enforcement or investigative agency.

Hmm.  A turfwar between Dept. 'o Vaterland Security and Department of Education over who gets to run the re-ed camps.

I can think of lots of reasons:

1 - Those inner-city schools are tough these days.

2 - Some of those suburban and rural schools might have children whose parents are (gasp) Republicans.  You cannot let those little buggers forget who is boss!

3 - They do have to go before Congress every year to lobby for increased funding.

4 - Have you seen some of the people the schools have for janitors ?  If I were a teacher working late correcting papers or something, I would want quick access to 12ga. too!

At least they are spending our hard earned money on decent weapons.  Mrs. Inor and I have 870s and we love 'em.

My theory?

Bob from Dept of ED shoots 3-gun with Joe from the IRS.
Bob "That's a sweet shotgun Joe"
Joe "It was free. All you need to do is fill out Form 1111.3.A6C and submit it to general procurement. Its best if you get 8 of your buddies together, because they only procure them in lots of nine. They don't ask any questions, just ship a crate of them to your door."

At least that's what I hope is going on. [tinfoil]
