Interesting to see a group dedicated to free speed taking this stand.
-
Maybe they will burn each other down.
WBC doesn't need any more press.

Heck, I might get in line for free speed.
As much as I disagree with WBC I am opposed to folks interfering with their righ of free speech. These days that includes setting up their own web presence.
I'm going to just [popcorn] and see if they (WBC) get scared by this or increase their level of public presence in defiance of the threat(s). I'm also going to [popcorn] and see if the Dept. of Justice tries to deal with Anon for making terroristic threats.
stay safe.

Is it "pray for an asteroid" time again already? =D

Anon is dedicated to free speech? Since when?
Only thing they seem dedicated to is the lolz.

Only one thing to do here......

This.
But, when it comes to cybercrime, there is a certain amount of Karma in it happening to WBC.
-
It's not as if the WBC has a big nation or world-wide following that relies on it's website to communicate or coordinate activities.
I'm not sure that Anon targeting them would amount to much beyond a minor nuisance.

Emails, crashed website, hacked bank accounts and records, all that kind of stuff.
The turd in the punchbowl is how WBC makes its money. When they are threatened or assaulted they sue. I think anon could fish that turd out of the punchbowl for everyone to see.

If you make a target of yourself, expect to be shot at...
That said, pass the popcorn.

The group states that “the damage incurred will be irreversible, and neither your institution nor your congregation will ever be able to fully recover.”
So they threaten to irreversibly damage the WBC. Aren't they already irreversibly damaged?

Yes, very true for a company that manages all its IT, but I'd suspect a high probability the WBC just has it hosted somewhere, and banking, emails, etc. are on scattered home PC's on various ISP's.
That's not to say they won't find them other ways, just more legwork.
-
wbc needs to get the names from the guy anon just went after let them do their lawsuit thing it would be like having your mother in law in a cage match with an irs agent tough to figure who to root for

Which would be good. Keep anon busy with small (if incredibly annoying) time activist, giving LEO more time to get there butts together and go after anon and keeps them out the bigger stuff they like to play with.
Of course thats assuming LEO can actually get there rears in gear on this one...
-
Just a hunch, but if I wanted a piece of any wbc emails I'd start with the lawyers. I bet the wbc people have a few computers with the most info on them, too.
-
WBC likes to use Twitter to get their things planned. Or at least they used to.
I try not to pay attention to them these days.

They claim to be. I have no comment on the truthfulness of that position.

This group is basically legion upon legion of losers that have nothing better to do all day than to sit around repeating the same jokes. (memes)
On the rare occasion that someone is able to focus and direct their activity with malicious intent, serious things have happened before. People have committed suicide, websites brought down permanently, and people's lives have been seriously ruined.
They may be ridiculous, and pathetic, but 700,000 raging geeks without a cause has been proven to be dangerous before.

It's a Hoax: Anonymous Did Not Threaten Westboro Baptist Church
By Tony Bradley, PCWorld
Based on its recent successes taking on the considerable forces aligned against Wikileaks, and its ability to take down HBGary--an information security firm--in a matter of hours, you do not want to be on the radar of the hacking collective known as "Anonymous". Perhaps that is why an apparent ultimatum from Anonymous to the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) is making headlines. Problem is--it's a hoax.

Well...
=|
So much for a good show...
-
Dang!...now what are we gonna do for entertainment.... :'(
-
Don't give up yet....I still wonder if anon will decide to hit wbc since they kind of asked for it....
-
Well, one possibility mentioned was that it's a faction of Anonymous trying to stir up an attack on the WBC.
When you have a decentralized leaderless community like Anonymous, who decides what they'll do and what they won't? A 51% majority, but a majority as defined by what? How many members does Anonymous have?
What defines a "vote"? Chat traffic?
Ideas for new crusades presumably percolate within Anonymous all the time, and just need "critical mass" of some sort to be defined as an "official" Anonymous operation.
So it could be a minority proposed Anonymous operation, and they tried to kick it off. (shrug)
-
Hey Anon !!!
WBC said you're a bunch of chickensh!ts !!!

God hates Guy Fawkes.
Someone needs to get to work on photoshopping and post the results to 4chan.

I was gonna say "God Hates Anonymous," but since God is omniscient, I couldn't make that work.

God may be omniscient, but I dare say the WBC folks are, ahem, a little less so.
-
God hates furries!
that should take care of that. [popcorn]
-
HEY ANON!!!!....FRED PHELPS SAID HE WAS GONNA RAT YOU OUT TO GOD....AND HE SAID THAT HE'S GONNA PROTEST YOUR FUNERAL!!!!!
....ok.....if that doesn't get it done, I don't know what will.....
-
you know, it -is- the perfect unorganization... Not even really cells... Some may know each other, but with little organization, there's no way to arrest a head.
Imagine if they had firearms. And a target that they considered worthy.
There are what, 3,000,000 NRA members? If one percent are "underground resisters," a gun ban would result in some serious warfare.
-
and now you know why obama isn't pushing da ban.
-
There might be a few more then 1%.
George Will did an article a few years ago about the power of the NRA. He said that while there may only be 3,000,000 actual members there is something close to 30,000,000 or 40,000,000 that think they are members.
That's the power.

I hope they hit the twitter and facebook sites. Those are the ones they use to set up the crap they do.
