Last night before SWMBO comes home, and I wanted to do a campfire with a cigar and Scotch. I've got the campfire and Scotch sussed, but I have no cigars. There's a smoke shop still open for another hour that an OK selection of the most commonly available cigars. What should I buy? It's been a couple years since I've lit up a stoggie. IIRC I like the medium flavors, and if it's a bit spicy that's good.

Upmans are nice.
-
Arturo Fuente are always good.
Excalibur's are very nice for the cheaper end of things, the $7-8 cigar...

Got an Upman Robusto. Eating dinner right now. Soon as that's done I'll be headed to the back porch with the cigar and several Scotches (Ardbeg Carreyvkaan, Caol Ila 12 and 18, and maybe a couple others).
ETA - It's now raining, dag nabbit. So no campfire. I just don't feel like sitting out in the rain.

Decided to start out with McCarthy's Oregon Single Malt. The Upman Robusto is smoldering nicely.

Romero y Juleta and Partegas are two of my favorites. The larger and blacker ones are the best........chris3

Wound up also drinking some drams of the Ardbeg, Caol Ila 12, and Abelour A'bundha. My neighbor wound up coming over to join in.
Thought about Romeo y Julieta, but >$10 for a cigar was more than I was willing to spend. The Upman was $8+tax.

Try an Arturo Fuente- Maduro

As the others have said, you really can't go wrong with an Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva. I remember fondly the days when you could get a Churchill for $5.
-
I really like Rocky Patel 1992 Vintage.
-
Gurkha Empire VI, my personal favorite.

I'm with you on the cigar crave but I'll leave you to the scotch. Can't handle that drink. Never acquired the taste of scotch in any form.

Cool. More for me :D
If my pattern holds I probably won't spark up another stoggie for 6 months or more. Hopefully I'll remember some of these suggestions by then.
