No doubt the investigation will result in the landowner being charged with *something* for making the police look foolish.

So was this "gator" on private property or not?  The article is not clear.

Hm...  kids running around the back of the apartment, screaming 'n squealing 'n leaving lollipop wrappers and damming the irrigation ditch so the parking lot gets flooded...

Anyone know where a guy can buy a concrete mountain lion?

It was a drug raid.

The gator was stoned.

The article also says that some kids saw it while playing in some "nearby woods". Did the concrete alligator owner own the woods that the kids were playing in? If so, why didn't the cops inform the owner that there was an alligator spotted on his land and they was a bout to kill it?
