Title: Can anyone Identify this Item ?
Post by: Chester32141 on September 06, 2011, 01:26:13 PM

Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

It is a yard sale find. He stands about 16 inches high, has a gun in one hand, wears an eye patch, and was apparently, at one time, painted with some kind of thick black paint.

He is made of copper and brass.

Any ideas appreciated ...  [popcorn]

With what appears to be a tux and bow-tie, I'd say it was some sort of James Bond figurine, but the revolver throws me. He used them frequently/occasionaly in the books and a few times in the movies, usually as a special need weapon, or a under-pillow/nightstand/glovebox guns. None of them were iconic for him like the PPK

I'm thinking doorstop. WHo he is I have no idea.

Find out how much he weighs and put him on ebay for scrap value. Maybe he's something desirable and will take off.

Having an eye patch may mean he's some sort of villain. He strikes me as 1930s but again, just a guess.

Are you sure that's an eyepatch? Other than that, it looks like Roger Moore to me. Roger did use a revolver in his first film, IIRC.

Looks like a cheap lawn ornament that you'd find at a Mexican flea market....

Scrap yard.  Melt him down for cash.

This for sure......

Hey. Why is everyone wanting to melt the little dude.

I think he's kinda cool looking.

Also, caractatures with big hands usually indicate greedyness.

He did wear a suit with a bowtie at one point early in the movie IIRC.

I'd lean towards the True Grit as a possible subject matter

I sure as heck wouldn't melt it down, that there is rusty gold :)
A truly cool oddity. So what was the yardsale price and how much does it weight?

.... So what was the yardsale price and how much does it weigh?

A friend picked it up over the weekend for $10 and it weighs about 6-8 pounds ...

Thanks for the input y'all ...  [popcorn]

Scrap Brass is goign for $1.65 -$1.75 per pound.  That's about $3.00 profit....

Big Feet mean one thing, but big arms (not hands) mean another.
