Title: string roast bags?
Post by: charby on April 27, 2006, 10:56:34 AM
So where can I buy those string bags that they put boneless rolled roasts in at the supermarket?  I want to get some so I can make my own with spices and stuff in them and smoke them. I have a couple of boneless deer roasts from last fall I am thinking about doing this with.

Skip the bags and learn how to truss your own roasts.

I thought about that, but hanging a mesh bag seems easier than rigging a up a trussed roast. Just seems like it will be destined to fall into the pan of smoldering wood chips. Plus I also want it to make some chicken gelatin* this fall and the string bag could hold all that good stuff together to boil it.

* its a pressed loaf of meat containing chicken, lamb, veal and various spices. Looks like a white and red patchy loaf of lunch meat when it is finished.

OK, so no more sources for the delicious Iowa raised Pork and Beef for you.
