Title: Future Wife musings...
Post by: charby on May 02, 2006, 06:43:02 AM
The future Mrs Charby and I were at Fin and Feather (Outdoor store in Iowa City) on Saturday. We were checking out the crap on the gear swap table and she picked up a little fleece lined case and asked if my "little .38" (J-Frame) would fit in it. I said I already have a case, then she asked if the "little gun" I was going to buy her would fit. I replied.. what gun? She said the one your going to buy me to shoot. So I guess I better start looking for a handgun as a wedding present.
The main mission I went to the store was to pick up a new 6" fillet knife and ended up buying her a new Slumberjack Packlite II sleeping bag that was on clearance for almost 50% off. So a $20 purchase turned into $85.
All in all I'm glad I'm getting married to someone who understands my hobbies and participates in many of them.

You can't complain about that! Has she picked a gun out yet? Add that personal touch and get it engraved.

She hasn't picked out a gun yet, I was thinking about getting her a 28 guage shotgun for a wedding present but I might have to consider a S&W J frame or a SP 101 instead. I think she just wants me to pick one out for her because whenever I'm at the gun counter she doesn't seem all that interested in handling firearms.

My advice: Get her the gun as something other than a wedding present. The wedding present should be something romantic.

Revolver wrapped in a leather cat of nine tails?
Actually 1911.. that is great advice, wasn't even thinking that. Ok, so I better rethink the wedding present.

If finances allow, get her both the gun and something romantic.

m1911owner's words carry wisdom.
My B-in-Law suggested getting my sister a really nice set of steak/kitchen knives for Valentine's day. My sister told him, "Do that, & expect to find one sticking out of your chest."
Weddings & Hallmark Holidays call for useless* gifts and much fluff.
