There were a significant number of clean cut, well dressed protesters in that video. Many of them them were older folks approaching, or at retirement age. Kind of puts the kibosh on the notion that all fleabaggers are dirty scruffy Mom's-basement dwelling hippies.
And that is why I expressed concern in another thread that this movement is gaining traction and will be a factor during the 2012 elections.

The ONLY thing that I worry about in regards to this movement is its one sensible tenet: Disdain for Wall Street bailouts by FedGov. Shares a lot of sentiment with the TEA Party.
Aside from that, it's a bunch of unfocused rambling incoherent frustration at... whatever... (often, the protesters' own capacity to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory throughout a life of middling adequacy). And the age or bathing habits of the participants has nothing to do with it.

My point, AZ, was that a large portion of the protesters did not fit our derogatory preconceived notions about the OWS crowd. Many of them appear to be fairly standard middle class folks. These people vote.
I fear there is more to this movement than we are willing to admit. And I believe this will have an influence on the 2012 elections.

Hoestly, I don't think this started out with any traction. But the MSM managed to throw some salt and sand under the tires, and make the OWS "movement" into something... more.
Now, I'm hearing otherwise rational folks who are supportive of OWS. Even when they can't articulate what the OWSers actually want...

Financier anarchy? We have a pretty well regulated market. I'm guessing that at least 80% of Americans, including the douchebags in the street are invested in the market somehow. It's not about crooked banks. It is about the advance of collectivism. The people that organized the Oct 15 are the same ones that started the May protests in Spain.* Every socialist is scared to death that the age of free other people's money is closing. They're burning cars in Rome and Greece over austerity measures. Banks didn't get them there, governments spending like Charlie Sheen in a whorehouse did.
*15October.net is registered in Madrid, same as the agitators that started the May protests. When we brush aside all the unwashed masses of useful idiots it will be interesting to see who is behind the red curtain. (wow, how much I see what you did there can fit in one sentence? =D)

Unfortunately, it's not really an either-or situation. While I oppose mob action and collectivism, we are deluding ourselves if we believe that nothing is rotten in Denmark when it comes to Big Finance or that there is some kind of impenetrable firewall between government and uber-finance. The challenge is to rationally identify the real perps and then use legal means to exact punishment and reform.

I think moral people in government are capable of doing the right thing. But I don't see enough of them in high places. Do you, Strings? Wake up. We didn't get here by accident. And it's not just "government," there are a lot of immoral and amoral people in this society, spawned by half a century of toxic ideas coming from people who ought to know better.

Ah, Guy Fawkes. Said to be the only man in British history to enter parliament with honest, noble intentions, a clear agenda, and the resources to see it through.
Personally I'm not so sure what place he would fall into regarding American politics being that he was an attempted regicide with the ostensible goal of replacing the sovereign with one of their own liking and thus reestablishing the Catholic church as the state religion for England.
